It’s Okay Not to Do It All: Finding Peace in Slowing Down
There’s something about the fall season that invites reflection. Maybe it’s the slower sunsets, the changing leaves, or the quiet rhythm of nature preparing for rest. For me, October was an unexpected teacher in slowing down and finding grace when life doesn’t go as planned.
This past month, my world revolved around caring for my horse, Yates, after a significant injury. My days looked different — less structured, more emotional, and a lot more centered around healing. And while part of me struggled with not checking all the usual “to-do” boxes, another part of me began to understand that maybe this was exactly what I needed.
So often, we measure our worth by how much we get done — by the projects finished, the goals achieved, or the plans completed. But what if the most important things in life can’t be measured that way? What if our real purpose lies in being present, not being productive?
The moments I spent caring for Yates — the quiet early mornings, the gentle brushing, the connection that didn’t need words — will stay with me forever. Those were the moments that reminded me of what truly matters: love, presence, and care.
At intūn ChiroCare, we talk a lot about nervous system balance — how your body adapts to stress and how chiropractic adjustments help restore that adaptability. But nervous system health isn’t just physical. It’s also emotional and mental. When we constantly push ourselves to “do more,” we send our body into overdrive. The nervous system shifts into a chronic fight-or-flight state, making it harder to rest, heal, and think clearly.
Slowing down allows the body to switch gears — to move into rest, repair, and connection. It’s in those still moments that your body can truly heal.
So as we move into the holiday season, I want to gently remind you:
🌿 It’s okay not to get everything done.
🌿 It’s okay to say “not right now.”
🌿 And it’s okay to choose presence over productivity.
You don’t have to earn rest. You deserve it.
If your body or your nervous system has been whispering that it’s time to slow down, listen. A gentle adjustment, a deep breath, or a quiet moment might be exactly what you need to get back intūn.
