Is Your Body Whispering—or Yelling?
I often wonder what would happen if people listened when their bodies whispered instead of waiting until they had to yell.
The whispers can be easy to dismiss.
Maybe you aren’t sleeping quite as well. You feel more irritable than usual. Your shoulders remain tense, your mind refuses to slow down, or you notice that you’re clenching your jaw throughout the day.
You may find yourself saying, “I’m just tired,” “I’ve been busy,” or “This is what happens as I get older.”
Sometimes, the signals become louder. Headaches occur more frequently. Discomfort begins interfering with your activities. You feel exhausted but still cannot settle at night. Small inconveniences feel overwhelming, and it takes longer to recover from stressful days.
These experiences can be common, but that doesn’t mean they should always be ignored.
Your nervous system is constantly responding to what is happening both inside and around you. It helps you meet challenges, respond to your environment, and then ideally return to a place of rest and recovery.
But when the demands keep coming without enough opportunity to recover, your body may have difficulty shifting out of that heightened state.
I know it isn’t possible to remove every source of stress. Work still needs to be done. Families still need care. Schedules remain full, and unexpected challenges are part of life.
The goal isn’t to create a perfectly stress-free existence. The goal is to become more aware of what your body is communicating and find ways to support its ability to adapt.
Start by checking in with yourself:
How have you been sleeping?
Are you able to relax without feeling guilty?
Do you feel present, or does your mind constantly race ahead?
Are you noticing recurring patterns that you keep dismissing?
You don’t need to judge the answers. Simply notice them.
If your body has been whispering—or perhaps has started yelling—it may be time to listen.
At intūn ChiroCare, I use objective assessments to better understand what the nervous system is doing and how the body is adapting. From there, I can create a plan based on what I find and what you hope to improve.
Because I don’t guess—I assess. 💙
